How much trouble can an extra second cause?

Officials say they are prepared, but still a bit anxious, about the first "leap second" during a trading day since markets went electronic, Bloomberg reports. A second will be added to Tuesday to sync atomic clocks with the earth's rotation. While there have been 25 leap seconds since 1972, the last such addition, in 2012, came on a weekend.
