McDonald's embracing more 'local' menu items

McDonald's has taken the next step in a wider strategy to have its restaurants offer a more local flavor, after signaling such a change in a corporate reorganization last year. For example, Bloomberg said McDonald's (NYSE: MCD) will sell bacon and white-cheddar Egg McMuffins in the Chicago area, and pulled-pork sandwiches in Indiana, neither of which can be found on the Oak Brook-based chain's national menu.
